Happy June! It's crazy to think that we are more than half way through 2016, and we've got so much more lined up for the rest of the year! We were thrilled to host our first Britsionary group of June, a fabulous group from St. Peter Marian in Worcester, who spent the week working alongside our Haitian staff building a home for a single mother and her six children, as well as working on various tasks around Be Like Brit! With our Stairway to Heaven project in full swing, and our work on the depot and retaining wall, there was no shortage of work for anyone here - and the group from SPM dove in with all hands on deck!

We were excited to welcome back Mel and Jess as chaperones (Ms. Elkinson and Ms. Xavier) and a whole new group of students from SPM. We were a bit bummed out that the Stairway to Heaven project prevented the group from being able to reflect on the roof every night, but some rain each night may have prevented that possibility at the same time!

Mel and Jess had very fond memories of the roof, and the previous Britsionary grouip from SPM had told them a lot about the beautiful roof top experience here in Haiti. While they understood the importance of the project, there are none among us who didn’t miss having the roof over the course of this project! We’re so happy we were able to get up to the roof for the final night of reflection, this past Friday! And now, a little bit of SPM will stay on in the Stairway to Heaven for years to come!!!

With an incredible home building project on the part of our Britsionarys, a crew of our local laborers were hard at work preparing the next Britsionary group project! Something a bit different this time, a large group of students from St. John’s Catholic High School in Shrewsbury will be with us in early June to start laying out the foundation for our new depot and site of our future Britsionary Guest House! They will also be working hard to put in to place a huge rock and rebar retaining wall, securing the earth behind the depot and house and allowing us to move forward on the expansion of the Britsionary program at Be Like Brit.

It’s always great when Bernie visits us down here in Haiti, too! The children just love him, and we look forward to his next visit!

Love and I are off to Worcester this week to meet and greet our friends at our Golf Tournament! Be sure to keep up on our activities for the rest of this month, as we have a very busy June and a very busy summer ahead!

As always, thank you for helping us help the children of Haiti at Be Like Brit!!!
